WORCESTER City manager Richard Dryden has not given up hope of gate-crashing the Blue Square North play-offs competition.

The St George's Lane club are nine points adrift of the top five and have played more games than most of their rivals.

Defeat at Hyde United last Saturday dealt a major blow to their chances of joining the end of season party and the subsequent release of Adam Webster was a further indication that thoughts are turning to next season.

However, City turned in a fine display to see off Vauxhall Motors on Monday and with games against eighth-placed Burscough tomorrow and leaders Kettering seven days later Dryden is remaining optimistic.

He said: "I have got to stress there's still a lot to play for this season and we want to win a lot of the games.

"If we beat Burscough and Kettering you never know where that might take you."

Dryden is not expecting to bring in any new faces ahead of the Burscough clash but has already identified players he would like to add to the squad.

"I have got a lot of people written down who I would like to get," the manager said.

"I am looking for decent players. Some are still at clubs and some players can't come out yet but I will be building for now and next season."
