Monday 10th November Severn Trent Water hosted a STEM day (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at Specialist Science College, Tenbury High School.

A successful open evening took place at The Chase Technology College when more than 500 pupils, along with staff, showed off their Malvern school. There were a range of activities to see, including pupils demonstrating sports, a drama production and a range of scientific experiments.

Tenbury Young Ambassadors meet Olympic Stars Earlier this month Claire Blakeway and Ben Yarnold, Year 11 pupils at Tenbury High School, had the truly exciting opportunity of meeting and working with athletes who had represented GB at the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics.

THE humble potato became the focus of a number of activities at Pershore High School to mark the international year of the potato. Year eight pupils looked at how potatoes and food in general has such a fundamental role in modern lives. They also studied the Irish potato famine, food miles and growth rates in history, geography, maths and food technology lessons.

Pupils at a Worcester school were treated to a somewhat surreal workshop with author Wolfren Riverstick. Mr Riverstick spent two days at Bishop Perowne CE College talking to year nine pupils about his books, his Harley-Davidson and his life as a lorry driver.

Workers at Compco Fire Systems, Lower Wick, Worcester, raised more than £200 for Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing pink outfits. Staff took part in a Wear It Pink Day, when they all wore pink. Homemade cakes were sold and there was also a raffle. A spokesman said: “We managed to raise more than £200 for Breast Cancer Awareness and we also took some photographs of the event.”
