Wedding fair is huge success

4:09pm Sunday 11th February 2007

HUNDREDS of brides-to-be and their friends and families flocked to the Wedding Fair 2007 over the weekend.

The Ultimate Collection event at the Fownes Hotel in City Walls Road was organised by the Worcester News, and included everything from cars to cakes and dresses to discos.

Exhibitors said it was another "great success", with 600 (tbc) people pouring through the doors.

Visitors got to see 44 different exhibits providing services for the big day, including photography, teeth whitening, balloon decorations and suit hire.

The event gave brides and bride-grooms-to-be inspiration for how to stage the perfect wedding by offering all the services any couple could wish for.

For some firms it was almost as important as a wedding itself - a chance to impress the public and drum up business along the way.

Christine Fittus, from Malvern, who runs The Linea Clinic, said: "On the big day, everyone wants to look their best and we provide a range of services to help them do that, like teeth whitening and skin resurfacing.

"I've been going since November and this is a big day for us."

Melvyn Lowe, who runs Split Second photography, based in Kerswell Green, said: "Word of mouth is how we get a lot of business. We've been going four years and have put on a stall at this event two or three times before. We find it is very successful."

Sara Matthews, events manager for the Worcester News, said: "The event really gave people everything they need - it's a one-stop shop for the big day.

"It's great to meet the needs of local businesses and give something back to them."

BLOB: If you missed today's Wedding Fair don't panic, The Worcester News Three Counties Bridal Show will be held on Sunday, March 11, at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern and will include more than 100 stands.
