A SPARKLING Worcestershire couple are today celebrating 60 years of wedded bliss.
Cyril and Alma Parkes fell in love during a village dance hall night in Hanbury, near Droit-wich, and they say they have never looked back.
Mrs Parkes, aged 79, said: "We used to dance together, got chatting and have stayed together eversince."
The couple, who live at Dormston, near Inkberrow, were married at St Mary Magdalene Church, Himbleton.
Mrs Parkes said: "It was Easter Saturday and we were very lucky as the sun shone beautifully and we had all our family there."
The couple lived and worked together at Little Elms Farm, Stoke Works, near Bromsgrove.
She said "We had both worked on the farm all our lives, it was a mixed farm. It was a hard life but I did enjoy it as had both done nothing else but farming."
The couple have one son, Melvyn, and two grandsons.
After the lease on their farm ran out, they moved to Boughton Green. Mr Parkes, aged 84, started working as a farm contractor and Mrs Parkes became the manager of a chicken pen.
Since retiring, the couple enjoy their hobbies of gardening, following the hunt and travelling.
They will be celebrating their diamond wedding day by sharing a meal with their family.
Mrs Parkes believes the secret to a happy marriage is to support each other. She said: "We have had our ups and downs but at the same time we have pulled together and taken life as it comes."

Yes, indeed - Congratulations!
Personally, I find the secret of a happy marriage (only 45 years, so far) is......two televisions!
