Extra travel plans on show

DETAILED plans of exciting new construction projects to improve walking and cycling around Worcester will be made available this week.

Worcestershire County Council is holding a series of public exhibitions to showcase forthcoming projects in the city including the new Diglis Bridge, Powick Hams roundabout improvements and a toucan crossing by the Ketch roundabout.

Councillor Derek Prodger, the council's cabinet member for the environment, said: "These schemes are essential for reducing congestion in Worcester and providing residents with greater, more sustainable, travel choices.

"They will increase freedom of movement around the city and deliver sustainable travel options that will improve our quality of lives through cost savings, reduced congestion and improved health."

Details of the following schemes will be available for public viewing:

  • Connect2 Diglis Bridge and associated schemes
  • Powick Bridge strengthening
  • Temeside Way resurfacing
  • New Road cycle path
  • The Ketch toucan crossing
  • Powick Hams improvements and toucan crossings The public exhibitions will take place from 6pm to 8pm at Blessed Edward Oldcorne RC High School (tonight and tomorrow night), Powick Village Hall (May 19-20) and Worcester Guildhall (May 21-22).
