DROITWICH swimmer Becky Redfern has won silver in the 100m breaststroke at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Redfern matched her Rio 2016 outcome by picking up silver in the SB13 100m breaststroke final.

The 21-year-old clocked an incredible time of 1:14.10 narrowly missing out on the gold.

Her family were cheering her on back at home and joked they were so loud "Becky could probably hear us in Tokyo."

Her parents Steve and Katharine watched alongside her son Patrick, partner, brothers and grandparents.

Mr Redfern said they were over the moon at the result.

"I apologise to the neighbours but we were so excited especially when she was so far out in front.

"When Krawzow starting clawing back we were desperately yelling and we were that hoarse afterwards.

"When Becky got to the end on the television screen we saw her burst into tears and my immediate reaction was 'she's devastated'.

"I know she thought she could win gold though she didn't tell anyone but when we spoke to her she said she had been crying the whole time but they were happy tears.

"We are absolutely over the moon and are so proud of her."

Speaking after the race, she said: "It's the fastest I've been since Rio, so to come back and do that after having a baby has kind of blown my mind a little bit"

Elena Krawzow from Germany took gold while America's Colleen Young won bronze.
