A DRIVER being pursued by police crashed into parked cars during a dramatic chase in Worcester which left a trail of destruction in its wake.

Lisa Smith has described how a driver crashed into her car and her partner's car during a police pursuit in Brickfields on Good Friday, leaving debris strewn all over the road.

Miss Smith has shared photos showing the damage to the two cars in the wake of the incident and has called for more safety measures in and around Brickfields Road.

West Mercia Police has confirmed the incident took place with the force describing the pursuit of a dark blue or black car, believed to be a BMW, through Brickfields Road at around 10.30am on Friday.

A police spokesperson said the BMW was believed to have been 'involved in collisions with three vehicles on Lime Avenue'.

He added: "A vehicle, which failed to stop, was later seized by officers."

The force was unable to confirm, at this stage, whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Miss Smith, describing the aftermath of the crash, said: "My partner's car and also my car was crashed into by another car which was being chased by police.

"The driver of the black BMW fled the scene with the car before the police turned around on the Brickfields Road around about 10.20pm.

"The car was found parked up in a car park in Gamekeepers Close in Worcester and police have seized the vehicle.

"Now we have the hard task of trying to get our cars repaired and go through the BMW's insurance.

"We are completely devastated. The images show the destruction the car had done.

"I feel that the main Brickfields Road isn’t safe. Maybe the council and also the housing association should team up with the highways department and make driveways in properties which have cars (parked) on the main road to help reduce the hazards.

"There has been so many accidents on this road and this is the main damage we have had in our cars.

"We are running out of places to park safely.

"I’m not the only resident that has had things happen to the cars. It’s just getting such a nightmare.

"They have completed some type of work already to reduce parking in Tolladine on Rose Avenue so surely we could have some sort of help as Brickfields Road is a main road and also a bus route."

We have approached Worcestershire County Council with Miss Smith's concerns to see if any road safety measures are being considered, particularly on Brickfields Road.
