TRIBUTES have been flooding in for a “beautiful soul” with a "bubbly personality" who was found dead at a home.

West Mercia Police launched a murder investigation after a woman, who has been named locally as Grace Gardner, was found dead at a home on Wassell Drive in Bewdley last week.

Ms Gardner, who was 21, previously worked at The Port House in Stourport before leaving last year.

Katie McPhilimey, marketing director for Davenports, who owns The Port House, said: “The team at The Port House are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Grace, both staff and customers alike loved her bubbly personality, and whilst she left the pub before Christmas to work elsewhere, she was still fondly mentioned by people either side of the bar in conversations.

"The team at The Port House and Davenports Brewery send their thoughts and prayers to the family of Grace at this extremely sad time.”

Many tributes to Ms Gardner have also been posted on Facebook.

Steph Lacy-Smart said: "You lit up the room when you walked inside. You were always there when I needed someone.

"Heaven has gained another angel. The memories and laughs we shared together will never be forgotten".

Chevell Smith described Ms Gardner as "such a caring, beautiful soul."

Demi Smith added: "You literally lit up any room you walked in with your outgoing personality and your crazy laughter.

"I will hold onto our memories, you will forever be missed and never forgotten".

West Mercia Police arrested two women and a man on suspicion of murder after her body was discovered. They have all been released on bail.

Police were called to the address at around 5.10pm on Tuesday (April 23).

Officers have said the woman’s family was being supported by a specially-trained family liaison office and that residents in the area could expect an increased police presence in the area as they made enquiries about what happened.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 17.04pm to an incident at a private address on Wassell Drive.

"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman.

"Unfortunately, it was immediately clear that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene.”

Bewdley residents expressed their shock and sadness following the incident.

Mick Davies said: “I only live down the road, but we didn’t hear or see anything.

“It’s a big shock. The family are going to be absolutely devastated. We know what it’s like to lose a young person so our thoughts go out to the woman’s family and friends.”

Another resident, Dawn Cooke, said: “I didn’t hear anything but it’s a terrible thing that’s happened.

“It’s quite frightening that it was so close to my home. I’ve lived here since 1998 and nothing like this has ever happened before.

“I’m just so sorry to the family for their loss.”
