REBECCA Redfern has become the latest Team GB swimmer to win a gold medal at this year's Para Swimming World Championships.

The swimmer from Droitwich powered home to win the women’s SB13 100m breaststroke in one minute 15.01secs on day two at the championships.

The 23-year-old, who trains at Worcester Swimming Club, was one of three gold medalists on the second day for Team GB alongside Alice Tai and Bethany Firth.

Tai dominated the women’s S8 100m backstroke to win in one minute and 12.11secs, whilst World record holder Firth led a British clean sweep in the women’s S14 100m backstroke.

Redfern repeated the feat she achieved back in 2019 at the World Championships in London when winning gold as a 19-year-old. What made this achievement even more incredible was that she was actually in the early stages of pregnancy with son Patrick.

Between those two gold medals, the University of Worcester graduate won a silver medal in Tokyo at the 2020 Paralympic Games, adding to the silver she won at Rio 2016.
